Bundoran 2017

Over forty years ago Bundoran had a traditional eight week tourist season in July and August. The shoulder months of June and September were for the more sedate visitors! Many local shops and cafes only opened for a twelve week period and seasonal employment in local businesses flourished for that time.

Nowadays the “season” is virtually on all year with the exception of a few weeks in January and November when local businesses take the chance to do essential maintenance work on their properties and grab a few days off themselves.

Things kick off more seriously around St Valentine’s Day. At that point the days have started to stretch and a touch of Spring optimism raises its head.

“Discover Bundoran” is a local business initiative supported and financed by local businesses and our local authority, Donegal County Council. It provides information for the tourist, both intending and attending, through its website and its office on The Bridge in Bundoran.

Our local Tourism Officer is the local broadcaster Shane Smyth. He is responsible for the branding and marketing of Bundoran and among other things setting up and supporting local events and providing information for visitors. He is doing a great job and he spent the winter weeks attending Travel Industry Trade Fairs throughout Ireland and the UK.

We are looking forward to welcoming you to Bundoran this year and hope you have wonderful time enjoying the bracing air of our stretch of the Wild Atlantic Way.

You might enjoy your visit enough to be tempted to own a small slice of local real estate and that’s exactly where we can help you!
